Canada has a genuine space lineage — the Canadarm, the RADARSAT earth-observation program, and a robotics and sensing heritage other mid-sized nations envy — but it never translated into a durable commercial sector, and much of the value drifted abroad. The frontier is the downstream layer where space becomes useful on the ground: sovereign earth-observation constellations, Arctic and maritime domain awareness from orbit, and the analytics that turn raw imagery into decisions for defense, resources, and climate. A country this large and this contested should be able to see itself from space with its own eyes.
